About Futsal

Futsal is a variation of soccer played indoors with a smaller ball. The object of Futsal is for players to score points by advancing the ball up the field with their feet, and kicking or heading the ball into the opponent's goal.

Futsal History

Futsal was created by Juan Carlos Ceriani in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1930. It began as a game played in YMCA's. The sport quickly spread across South America. In 1971, the FIFUSA was established as the governing body for Futsal and the first World Championships were held in Brazil. FIFA took over the World Championships in 1985. FIFA's involvement in Futsal, helped the sport gain popularity. Today, Futsal is played all over the world.

Futsal Tips

Futsal players need good ball handling skills. Players can improve their ball handling skills by dribbling the ball around cones or other objects. Players should practice dribbling running at full speed, working to keep the ball close to their foot.
